VISIONS’ 26th annual Queens Advisory Board Luncheon Awards Ceremony commemorates 84 years of free services for the blind and visually impaired. Queens Public Television's Dana McBeth, Host and Editor, assigned to QPTV’s Intern Newsdesk, had the privilege of interviewing QPTV’s Programming Intern and VISIONS member, Josh Cintron. Josh, who is visually impaired, spoke about how much he benefited from VISIONS’ services for the blind:“I don’t know where I’d be without Visions.” In addition to skills training, Josh was offered social services, rehabilitation courses, and job placement. This program is designed to raise awareness and position visually challenged members on a fast track to independent and active living.

Nancy D. Miller, Executive Director and CEO of VISIONS, describes VISIONS as the “agency that says yes.” VISIONS offers services in 17 different languages either at the member’s home or at the VISIONS community center. VISIONS offers rehabilitation services to people of all different ages.
Senior Director of Fundraising, Ruth Schlossman, welcomed the honorees and Queens Advisory board members in an especially gratifying way. These skilled professionals have dedicated their time and expertise to partnering with VISIONS and serving the borough of Queens. The honorees included: Dr. Gene F. Caiafa Sr., Carol J. Hunt, Dr. Sang Woo Lee, Theodore Lehmann, Linda Marr, and John G. Vogt. Amongst the many guest speakers was Queens Borough President Helen Marshall who demonstrated great pride in speaking on behalf of this great nonprofit organization.

Tune in to QPTV Presents: Queens Perspectives: VISIONS 2010 Gala Event and learn about rehabilitation, independent living training, job placement assistance, support groups, and other free services that are provided for people of all ages who are legally blind or severely visually impaired.
