Queens Residency Guidelines

Proof of Residency

Queens Public Television, in compliance with local and State law, requires all producers, providers and sponsors of programming to have on file proof that they reside in Queens. Proof of residency is required for all individuals submitting programs to QPTV. This includes Series programs (monthly or weekly) and stand alone Specials.

All Producers, Providers and Sponsors submitting programming to QPTV for cablecast must have their proof of residency on file.

QUEENS PUBLIC TELEVISION: RULES & PROCEDURES, page 2:
SECTION IV states:

"IV. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO USE QPTV?
A. You are eligible to apply if you are a legal bona-fide Queens resident with a legal bona- fide resident address. You must be able to verify your
residency by providing two proofs of address and City, State, Federal or Employee Photo ID.

The following combinations of proof are acceptable:
1) A New York State Driver's license and two current utility bills (within the last 6 months),
2) A New York State Photo I.D. (a.k.a. a "non-driver's license") and two current utility bills (within the last 6 months),
3) A United States or foreign issued Passport and two utility bills (within the last 6 months),
4) A City, State, Federal or Employee Photo ID and two current utility bills (within the last 6 months),
5) Current College or High School Photo ID and two proofs of address. (Must be 18 years of age or older.),
6) Copy of 501(c)3 (Not-For-Profit organizations only.)

Employees or Members of a not-for-profit organization seeking training are also required to verify their address as well as their association with said
organization.

To use QPTV's equipment, facilities or channel space you must be 18 years of age or older. For safety and security reasons, no one under 14 years of age is allowed on QPTV premises
unless supervised."

What is QPTV?

QPTV (Queens Public Communications Corporation) is a not-for-profit private corporation serving the residents of Queens. QPTV manages four community television channels specifically for Queens, under the Franchise Agreement between the City of New York and the Cable Operators in the Borough of Queens.

QPTV cablecasts the most diverse programming to the most diverse community in the world reaching over 440,000 subscribers 24 hours a day, everyday on channels 34, 35, 56, 57 on Time Warner Cable and on 82, 83, 84, and 85 on RCN and channels 34, 35, 36, 37 with Community Bulletin Board on channels 33 & 38 on Verizon FiOS.
